Democracy without Freedom of Speech ?

What is the difference between a Democracy and a Dictatorship ?

One of the main ones is the Freedom of Speech.

However, the present goverment of India seems not to to think so. For them a democratic government is about curbing the rights of people. Be it the censor board, the broadcast ministry or the Department of Telecom. Rediff reports about the blogging sites of blogger ( this site is a blogger site) being blocked due to a directive from the government.

J Grewal, Spectranet's Delhi representative at the National Internet exchange of India, told this reporter that, on July 15, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had sent ISPs a list of sites to be blocked. R H Sharma, senior engineer with MTNL, said the list ran into some 22 pages.

This is atrocious move in a democratic country. Our forefathers did not fight the British and achieve freedom to have it taken away from a government caucus.

The blogs blocked also include Mumbai Help which is a blog for the help of the victims of the mumbai blasts.

Join the google group against this if you are keen to see this ban lifted.

excellent guys.keep it up.one more suggestion:friends if we do rallys n stuff in hitech city or indira park, no one will notice us...becuase everyday one dharna takes place at indira park....see what i m telling u is, lets do rastha rook at chikadipally or ameerpet ,..yah..police may not give permession...but we can gather atleast 50 people with banners...and do rastha rook without plocie permission and inform media..then police will take us to police station ,...its a sensation(afterall cant we go to police station once for the sake of our country..i m from usa and i particpated in y4e rally in sanfransicso..and i m not spoilling y4 e name.ok.) and media will definately cover us...and we ll get lot of coverage and sympathy from common man and youth froem all parts of state...then we can do the protest in class way.....

remember guys we are lucky to get freedom from britishers in gandhis style in 1947.but now we will not get anything if do in his style(not even media coverage...24x7 channels dont have have time to show our protest)...as we are not fighting against britishers but our own made politicians, who are brutal than britishers...so we need to take inspiration from SUBASH CHANDRA BOSE.his style works now...dont think i m too radical...but we should combine both the ways....onlythen we can achieve..

yes .i completely agree with y4e usa.
in support of my view, i can site the example of our riseing i.e.,YOUTH4EQUALITY-DELHI.

our organistion y4e in delhi got the huge support and publicity not just because they were on hunger strike, but by the way there handled by the police and govt.to supress their moment by doing laticharge and by using force.only after laticharge they garned the publicty in all the channels and it spread to all parts of the country within no time and gained sympathy by fellow youth and started supporting them.

yah, he is right govt always thinks about the mass people and not class people.so, if we can spread the message to mass and do mass protests ,only then we can achieve something.yah.it should be little radical, like the way our Y4E started their protest.....
so, lets do rastha rook in main junctions even if the police dont give us permission.nothing will happen to us, even if we are arrested ,because they will realise us immediately...

why did TDP and CPIM organised their rally in rtc-x roads........
