hi shreyas, dont worry about the how of things ..just worry about what we want. u , me and yfe. once we figure out WHTA,the HOW becomes easy, see of 17,000 members there will be lawyers to give legal point of view, event managers have been roped in ..i hear to manage, sociologists political analysts to study the situation, physologist or whatever to see what event draws the peoples support (eg today in ht city or delhi times there was an analysis of how ppl go from hating brat-druggists..to later sympathyse with them) mareketers to do a marketing research on any case and analyse the reach of yfe
in essence there will be many ppl to guide and discuss at length on issues..the only question that remains is ..what is the ISSUE

guys, im repeating myself but i expect u to give ur views or someon to mention this at ncc meeting or some head at yfe core body to read
evrytime we use certain terms starts a debate of "we need to uplift weeker section of society" and blah blah as if we are fighting for 27% resrvation n not 50 % ...so i say, that we need to hide our cause...like never mention the real thing we want (that is roll back) and ask for everything under the sun ......never mention reservation again ..till the time yfe is sitting in the pmo office n ppl r ready to give us roll back +commitee+sun+moon +as's head..so that we just stop
like true trade union leaders we should never let the real cause show or come into light
now if i knew the how and what..id b in parliament not here
but im hoping 17,000 members..maybe someone will come up with something
ur views please

The issue is not reservation.. issue is not medicos wont get their seats... issue is not it will divide the country... issue is we need to change the whole system... its not working at all... if it remains same as it is... gvt will keep on doing injustice to one section of society and their ppl and we will keep on getting screwed... do we have it in us to change it what it takes? we have to make people realise that government is doing injustice to everyone not only us. if you remain quiet this time. next will be you. we have to fight this dragon together. Together only we can defeat it.

hey dont get me wrong i am for equality , i want that when rain kills innocent people in bombay..people all over india should protest. but i am a practical person..i want yfe to first decide what sort of equality it wants..then however smal n micrscopic or macroscopic their cause i stand by them . if they decide to just fight 4 a stupid commite i wont back down
if u are angry about something i said..please tell me .i will explain see all im trying to see is ..id love for yfe to be for a big cause but even if they wanna stand for a small thing they need to pretend and camoflage it as a big thing to win.
i am not an idealist ...they end up getting frustrated with themselves n in the end all. if yfe dsnt stand for equality of all..then it already becomes a very selfish cause of some intelllectuals for people like themselves but even then i will stand by them. and advice them to use some brains ..emotional tricks to get more people.and pls bfore u say something against that emotional blackmail is used evryday of our lives between bf-gf,bro-sis-parents=kids,frens

Hi Neeti, I wonder how can you sustain one idea reservation for a long time. YFE if it has to last can only be by becoming peoples movement. When you talk about natural disastor in mumbai do you think medicos in Delhi will stand for it. Everyone in this world fights for his own right. Reservation is a big issue but how many get effected. Can you make it a true peoples movement just by that? If YFE has to become peoples movement it has to fight against all issues collectively. So if Mumbai gets flood in future modicos in delhi will feel themself affected through common cause.

YFE since it stands for Youth-For-Equality. In reservation context it should bring equal opportunity to every individual. In terms of casteism it should bring people closer. As the movement becomes bigger we can have other organizations linked to it to attack other issues without effecting YFEs fundamental goal. People won't support YFE in the current form. We need to prove them that whatever we are doing it is for their good and this doesn't happen just by preaching and we are not leaders. Do not loose patience. Our goal will be achieved but it will take time. We have to prove them by our activities.

To grow and sustain at any point requires few things:
1. Reaching to individuals because action speaks louder than words.
"Uplift weeker section" sounds like a golder word.
2. Advertisement through media because people have low memory
3. Volunteers participation in decision making and activities.
4. Strong fundamental goal which will not change. But organisations role will keep on widening.
5. Bringing youth among us to politics without geting involved in it.
In this I am a bit influenced by RSS though I don't support their ideas. They never contested elections but they are behind BJP. We need to have party which has its roots in YFE. Understand if YFE led party wins one seat, in next election it can win 100 seats.
Common man is not emotional, he is stupid. Everyone looks for direct benefit and today in fast world no one gets emotional.

hi vizeet, i read your blog and was unable to comment on it.
i cant understand wether u are agreeing with me or not.but i totally agree to all u have to say.
even i want yfe to stand for much more than reservation issue, whichever way the reservation issue goes equality wont be the result..even a roll back is not going to get people in this country equality.
so thers a question that i really want to ask..what does equality mean to yfe?
1. if it means equality to all human beings in our country.......and this is a very tough battel..so that if a massacare occurs in kashmir there should be country wide protests....so that govt takes 'real' action....if farmers commit suicide,,the whole nation should stand up and say to the govt...u better take action or else...
how this has to be done can be discussed (political party/ngo/etc..)but is yfe willing to do it is the question.
2. if equality to yfe means commitee+increased seats..then yfe should realise...such a small issue wont even get them support of their own colleagues..i mean some members are already dissapointed by change in charter of demands..so they have to get clever ..streat smart..on the outside the cause should look noble enough to attract more members, else its already a lost cause.
see the second type of equality is already a very selfish cause...so lets get more cunning and at least disguise it as great and noble to appeal more.
vizeet you said"Common man is not emotional, he is stupid. Everyone looks for direct benefit and today in fast world no one gets emotional"...my point exactly...either fight for everybodies equality else at least pretend ur fighting for everyones equality..only then u will get mass support.

Hi neeti, thanks for supporting my thoughts. I may have misinterpreted you in your last posting.

I believe goals should be something you always strive for but you never achieve in totality.

If you have a movement that is capable of bringing people together from length and breadth of India and becoming a political force then you won't need strikes. You will just need to raise your voice.

I think the second point you are talking about is just a short term goal of YFE. I myself support the current stand of YFE since that is the only way of fighting it legally. It talks that 27% reservation must only be implemented after seats are increased and seats should only be increased if infrastructure is in place. So if courts order is affirmative than govt will have problem in implementing the reservation atleast for few years. And if it does succeed then it will be good for our country to have almost 50% more premier institutes then the current count without effecting the quality.

If you look at the current development YFE Bangalore seems to be leading the cause and charter of demands are not the main thing now. YFE doesn't have proper structure so there is confusion at every level. I think still strenght of group is growing.

They are going to have meeting this weekend to discuss about organisational structure. I am hoping that they will come up with something good. I am expecting YFE-hyd will be there.

There is so much unrest in the country that if a new party comes which talks something positive for common man it will get good support.

LIKE TV 9 SHOWS ONLY KISSING AND EXPOSING ...AND CONISTABLE OR COMPOUNDER IN A HOSPITAL TAKING 10 RS....HIDDEN CAMS ALSO USED TO SHOW THEY TAKE 10 RS....THEY NEVER SHOWED WHAT OUR POLITICANS ARE TAKING AND DOING THROUGH HIDDEN CAMS...
IF ONE OF US ,EXPOSE OR BECOME NUDE,THEN ITS AN HEADLINE IN TV9: NA PERU DEEPTHI MUNDHUGA HEADLINES,Y4E LO NAGNA PRADARSHNALU....
AL THIS JUST TO SHOW THEIR ATTITUDE...

WE NEED TO DO RASTHA ROOK...ATLEAST ONCE, TO GET ATTENTION FORM THE PEOPLE,THEN EVERYTHING COMES BY ITSELF..

lets do somethings on our level....like have a group of people who think the same..for now....u me and shreyas lets collect our thoughts and then ..whoever is closer to the core members can discuss ..what we as a group have "drafted". and we can make a site and put good suggestions taken from all over the net and make a list n one of us can discuss with the core group.
see yfe usa has put my thoughts clearly in words...i was saying it in a crass way because when u have to reach the masses u have to think in a crass way...the simplest thing to say is"we want sensation' to reach masses...after that u can keep sugarcoating with words but baseline remains the same. i was wondering where we can make a grp n put our thoughts n suggestions(mayb orkut)....so many blogs on the net is wasted effort if it dsnt go in one direction
please tell me ur thoughts

Sensationalizing the matter could be benefitial. But sensationalising in what way? YFE is already a page-2 event. Try to think something that brings it to page-1 and not push it to page-3.

He is not yfe-usa. Someone is using this name. And he is polluting the blog by sending too many posts in multiple sections.

Now I am getting what Neeti means. Lets try to organise some event in the name of anti-reservation protest. Some kind of stage show. Try to get celebrity. We can both raise funds and have an add in newpaper. YFE core group can help us organising the event.
OR
We can organise a meeting where we bring a religious leader to give his preaching on reservation. I am trying to put this thing for quite sometime time that nothing can beat support from religious leaders. Political parties cannot stop them even if we have meeting in the middle of road.

Shreyas I agree with you. In Delhi if there were 10,000 people in protest than atleast 1 lac people are in support that is atleast 1% vote. Politically 1% vote can make some difference. We have to multiple it by atleast 10 so that it would make big difference.

I don't have an orkut account
Neeti would you vouch for me?

u got it right in our country only 3 kind of people get media coverage 1. politicos
2.film/tv personality
3. religious leaders
and nobody ..can touch them i.e harm them
i really wish thr was some one standing for anti-resv like aamir stood 4 narmada.
guess v shd work on all fronts religious leaders,tv-film star.and thers is a fourth kind...ppl who can me nade into stars..by doing sumthing sensational..like rajiv goswami..i.e any leader of yfe doin sumthing sensational ..not burning himself..something like that female did for narmada....our country ppl sympathyse with tragic heroes or underdogs or desh bhakts...
pls giv me ur email id so that i can send u an invite

No celebrity wants to burn his hands in this issue, even they have their stakes in all sections of society.
Navjod Sigh Siddhu is the best choice in terms of celebrity and Mahesh Bhatt can be the second one.

As far as Rajiv Goswami is concerned ,he became News as he was the first one to do that, there were many who followed his footsteps and died on the spot in front of AIIMS Delhi.

Let's try to get details of the cost of having a concert in various places costly or cheap ranging from shiparamam to indra-park. Then we can try to get details of how much various celebrities charge for doing event for two hours. Then we can think of other costs like orchestra etc. Possibly we can charge from businessman who plan to setup their stalls. We should bring two celebrities if we are planning to invite them. Depending on celebrity and location of concert we can get sponsors. We can sell T-shirt. Get signature.
Even if common man won't participate still it will make a newspaper news.
It's just a wild thought. Try find its feasibility.

friends if we do rallys n stuff in hitech city or indira park, no one will notice us...becuase everyday one dharna takes place at indira park....see what i m telling u is, lets do rastha rook at chikadipally or ameerpet ,..yah..police may not give permession...but we can gather atleast 50 people with banners...and do rastha rook without plocie permission and inform media..then police will take us to police station ,...its a sensation(afterall cant we go to police station once for the sake of our country..i m from usa and i particpated in y4e rally in sanfransicso..and i m not spoilling y4 e name.ok.) and media will definately cover us...and we ll get lot of coverage and sympathy from common man and youth froem all parts of state...then we can do the protest in class way.....

yes .i completely agree with y4e usa.
in support of my view, i can site the example of our riseing i.e.,YOUTH4EQUALITY-DELHI.

our organistion y4e in delhi got the huge support and publicity not just because they were on hunger strike, but by the way there handled by the police and govt.to supress their moment by doing laticharge and by using force.only after laticharge they garned the publicty in all the channels and it spread to all parts of the country within no time and gained sympathy by fellow youth and started supporting them.

yah, he is right govt always thinks about the mass people and not class people.so, if we can spread the message to mass and do mass protests ,only then we can achieve something.yah.it should be little radical, like the way our Y4E started their protest.....
so, lets do rastha rook in main junctions even if the police dont give us permission.nothing will happen to us, even if we are arrested ,because they will realise us immediately...

why did TDP and CPIM organised their rally in rtc-x roads........

2.primary education
3.sun
4.moon
5.xyz
6.in fine print against increased quota (and not anti-quota)

An organization which compromises its basic agenda for small gains leads nowhere. We had this example in the Indian Politics where a National party compromised on its very essential issue for sake of Power.
YFE will never compromise its "ROLL BACK of 27% OBC QUOTA" at any cost,in any situation. The Page 3 people who call themselves social activists have never callenges the policies of BJP or Congress, but are after YFE just because they are HUNGRY for PUBLICITY and we YFE have made some mistake of giving them respect by comming to the commom platform. There so called SOCIAL ACTIVIST can never be impressed by our logics and Facts because they just want to be in News.

blue, if u hav written this in response to my comments please understand...i have never said to compromise on the cause ,all im saying is packaging is important...packaging to reach more people, packaging to educate more ppl,and whats the harm in having somre celebs..they get their publicity n we get ours.
see the cause is noble n should be this way,but the choice is ,what sort of a nationalist do u want to be ..gandhi or chanakya. chanakya wanted the best for his nation at one point he was ready to sacrifice his pupil and let someone else become the king ..so long as his policies ...could be put in plcae for the greater good of society. this is the same choice for yfe ..either be like gandhi n think your own nobility is greater that the cause...rember how he took back his andolan and broke the hearts of millions OR think that u will use 'anything' to get what u want like chankya..and pls dont misinterpret it to mean im asking u to be like politicians..just b a little street smart.

I tihink you guys hit the nail on the head. We need attention.

But attention comes at a cost too. You cannot risk trivialising the issue and worse the cause. A concert would do exactly that. It will bring people into the fold. But how is it different from one of those page-3 charity balls?

We have to be taken seriously. What we need is for people to believe that we do stand for unity and equality.

If the idea is that of roping in a celebrity/politician, there are 2 issues i can think of. No. 1: Who would endorse it? Everybody's running scared. Every celebrity/politician worked very hard to get there. Why would he/she risk all that effort? No.2: If some celebrity/politician did agree to endorse it, would you be ok with just about any celebrity talking about it? They come with their baggage too.

I think these ways that are being discussed should be supplements to the main movement (movement = to bring in the masses into the fold + to dominate news again + to make everybody think).

I think the only way around is persistence. Serious, serious persistance. We dont need rasta rokos. All we need is those 17,000 people registered with YFE Hyd to come and sit at one place. Again anbd again and again. Attention will come. If not at the first sitting. the next one. If not the next, the next. Let's start a 24x7 vigil. Light a symbolic fire. keep it burning. Sit around it. Night, day, rain, sun police notwithstanding.

People will come. All those with those little doubts lingering in their minds. Allthose with inhibitions. Everybody.

I dont know about the SC directive too much to comments about it. But I am sure there are ways to skirt around it. Otherwise we would not have had such a thriving political system.

To sum it up: I think the only way out is dogged determination. And perseverence. Just that attitude. And that's exactly what Gandhi did. He just kept going. He jusst persisted. He did it.

How do u expect to form a base?
