The background black is intentional. This is a protest blog and black is the colour of protest.

Today's front page story of "Sons of drivers zoom into IIT's" from Deccan Chronicle should boost the morale of every youth and especially those who wanted to depend on government based on caste.

Misunderstanding of this reservation policy is poor families of other backward ommunities really get little benefit, because elite groups never go out of the blanket?

1. once reservation availed, that family should pledge of not availing any more chances, thus leaving chance to underdeveloped.

2. These policies should be time bound.

3. Even recent statistics shows that 40 % of SC/ST elementary drop outs exist, ie only 60% of elementary students reachout to schools,

4. Where is the stress to be put, at elementary level or IIT level?

In democracy it is not enough if one is a good citizen. In order for democracy to work effectively it is necessary as a Good Samaritan one ensures that others are also good citizens. If one observes bad behaviour one needs to be vocal about it and condemn it. If somebody feels that something is not right they need to make their voice heard and ensure that people hear their voice.

Being a mute spectator in democracy is not participation. One needs to get involved in everyday activities related to ones surroundings, society and country as a whole. A citizen needs to have unflinching love for his country and must get involved in betterment of the society.

Every step that he takes towards goodness hinders the evil pervading the society by another step. It is an everyday war between the good and evil. Nothing good will happen on its own cosmically. One needs to assume that there exists no cosmic force outside us and all the force that needs to bring the change in society lies inside us.

If a change or revolution needs to be brought into the society it we who need to cause it. We have to exert ourselves to action in order to ensure that there is movement of the wheel in the right direction. By inertia the society will move in the wrong direction. It is we who need to make it move in the right direction.

Why should I care? I pay my taxes, isn't that sufficient? No, If you are paying taxes more the need for you to get involved with the country. You need to find out how the government is utilizing your money. Is it using for the benefit of the society. What is the use of paying money every year to somebody if he is not giving it back to you with interest? The idea behind collecting taxes by the government is that government uses its judiciously for the collective good. You have to be concerned if the government is not using it for collective good.

What the reservation movement needs is not your money. It needs your time. You have to stand there in the roads holding the placards in the hot sun, bearing the rough weather or in the rain as the case may be. You must be undeterred and your focus should be on the vision. Every act of voluntary work done by you will help in a great way in the cause.

If you don’t act now, history will look upon you as coward, who didn’t act when he was supposed to. He didn’t do when his country called him to act. Good will slowly lose grip over society and evil will take over. Once evil takes over don’t ask God for help or don’t curse yourself for not having acted when it was time to act.

Act now for history will never forgive you.

In respect to the latest reservations proposed in INDIA, I think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely support the respected PM of India and all the politicians for promoting this.
Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 percent reservation for Muslims. 30 percent for OBC, SC/ST like that. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The four hit by an OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by a OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century. We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our OBC player. Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an OBC player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal.
Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race, an OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters. There can be reservation in Government jobs also. Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and politicians (that can really help the country...) Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country...) Let's be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward.
Let's show the world that INDIA is a GREAT country. Let's be proud of being an INDIAN. May the good breed of politicians like ARJUN SINGH long live.

Each one of you must ask the following questions before you go on Protest:

(1)Why are so vocally concerned about Equality and Injustice now? Did you not notice that inequality before? You are protesting now because you fear that the privileges you have enjoyed so far will be denied to your younger siblings or your children. Right? The protests are motivated by self-interest and you cleverly equate it with national interest. Don't you?

(2)You also know very well that your competency and performance is not affected by sitting next to a dull student in your school or college. If you have a good teacher and you pay attention, you will do well. Sports analogy people give is not applicable to class room performance. It is a convenience argument. Isn't it? Check Christian Medical College admissions website. They take 7 students from open quota, 53 seats are reserved for various categories for MBBS. 88% seats are reserved. Yet CMC remains a premier medical college in the nation and produces fine medical graduates. 88% reservation is not hurting CMC, why would 49% reservation hurt the standards of IITs?

(3)You know the main problem with IITs is not reservations. The problem is pathetically low number of seats (4000), for which more than 2 lakh of the brightest students compete each year. Only 2% get in. That is completely unfair? Don't you think it is unfair that a student scoring a position just outside the top 2 percentile (ranked 4001) is denied admission? That is why Prime Minister said he would increase the number of seats in IITs, and make sure that all sections have access to good education. Is that not an enlightened path to Equality?

(3)If you live in parliamentary democracy, you have to learn to respect the decisions of parliament, which has members elected by you and your fellow citizens. If you think the parliament is acting unconstitutionally, you can appeal to supreme court. You have the right to disagree, and the right to protest. But you do not help your cause of national unity by protesting against reservation. Through this protests, you are telling the OBC's that you do not belong to "your ideal India". You say to them: Go away, You are not meritorious enough to join our top institutions. Your presence will bring down the standards and diminish India's glory. Isn't that a mean and divisive message you will be giving on June 4th at Indira Park?

Write to me (govindarb@yahoo.com) if you think I am off the mark.

Good luck with your efforts to bring Equality.

-Govinda

Govinda I find the so called backwards are actually previlaged ones.
In UP and Bihar just tell policewala that you are Yadav he will get frightened. Who do you call backwards Jats of Haryana and Western UP who are more socially and economically sound than Brahmans of that regions.
I don't find anywhere that a forward class does discrimination against backward class. Train is the best example possibly where everyone is sitting next to each other and talking, didn't thinking what is the caste of other person.
In villages where forward castes used to dominate, now in most of those places those dominating castes has migrated to cities and now the backward castes are dominating those places.
Getting 88% seats in CMC now who is priviledged. If you remove 40% of forwards still there will be 600 Million people of India capable of competing with mere 300 Million people of US. So this is what you want remove your brothers like the Nazis did in Germany.

Why everyone should be in IIT there are other colleges. Brightness is a comparative term. Do you call 22.5% SC/ST bright of which half is unable to complete their full term.

Do you have a problem if we say that economically backwards should get free quality education and reserved seat because they cannot get same coaching facilities as the others.

I believe it is our birth right to raise our voice against any injustice there is nothing like respecting parliamentary decisions. People in parliament are our representative and they should respect our feelings.

People don't protest that is why conditions in UP and Bihar has become so bad and Brahmins have to migrate out of Tamil Nadu.

I believe there are so many OBCs joining us because they understand that India has to become forward not backward.

We don't want that people of forward class ask seperate state Punjab, Uttaranchal etc where they have majority and division of caste become division of country.

I can tell you the previlaged class(Reserved class) is divided. Today every party wants to get votes from them. If there could be one party that talks against present form of reservation and 30% of forward class starts voting no one can stop the party to get to the centre. I am waiting for a party to emergy.

Let there be several movements helping a single party to emerge. We need people movements to control activity of the party.

A new type of democracy:

Monitored Representative Democracy.

Vikram,

Yeah. I too wonder about the real value of democracy. I only think that it is better for the rulers as they all can share the blame and pass on the blame. In a Monarchy, its easy to point finger at just one person. However, like Monarchy, a democracy also only works well if the person in charge is Good.

The current Democracy in India is nothing but a Monarchy ( Gandhi Family). Its a farace.

I dont know is any one following up here or not .. i felt like coming here back to spark again.

Why are we trying to spread equality?
why the term itself came in to the picture on first place?

Can equality prevail? Can we have 1 billion prime ministers in INDIA?
If yes, that will be THE TRUE EQUALITY.
Let us fight for that, if these politicians want equality and not just power then why don they abolish different posts in Govt. Services? Let every one have same designation same work, same workign hours .. all must be equal.. is this all you need right?
When the nature or so called god has not created everything equal, then who has given them Right to force equality.
Can these politicians work with sweeper? Will they eat the same food as what 75% of Indian population eats? Mr. Prime Minister you need do a lot before introducing reservations ... You are not preserving rights of an SC/ST, you are reserving your seat in next elections and you know that what the truth is. Isnt it Mrs. Gandhi? Am I not ohnest Mr. Singh.
Why do you call them SC/ST on first place? You learn from past .. you learnt divide and rule policy from Firangi Raj and you are implementing that only.. you are not doing any good to the country except you and your families.

I belive we all will reach to our destiny.. and if god is there he is maintaing our accounts. Remember Mr. Minister there is a seat reserved for you :-) for me and every other human or living being.

We all will have to sit there....
You understand what I mean, I know you do understand but the power drug you are edicted to will not let you do the stuff you are supposed to.

Learn from Firangi /Angrez they are patriot.. they love to rule and exploit other countries and not to there own people.
